Custom Phone Belt Holster

Picture
Picture
What?
  • Designed a custom phone belt holster on Solidworks
How?
  • Iterated through 3D printed prototypes to achieve a perfect, snug fit
Results
  • Produced 3 custom phone belt holsters that could hold the client's phone on his belt, making his phone easily reachable but secure.

Filter Housing for Testing

Picture
Picture
Picture
What?
  • Designed and fabricated a housing to test a filter membrane
How?
  • Designed on SolidWorks
  • Iterated through 3D printed prototypes
  • Pressure and leak tested prototypes
  • Used DFM principles
Results
  • The housing was used to test filter membranes up to a pressure of 20 PSI (before failure of the tubing at the hose barb)

Heater Jacket Portfolio

Picture
What?
  • Developed a portfolio of 3 heater jackets to prevent condensation in vent filters.
How?
  • Collaborated with applications, manufacturing, and customers to determined requirements.
  • Coordinated with 3rd party vendor to design the heater jackets.
  • Performed validation testing.
Results
  • Produced heater jackets that extend the life of vent filters, allowing them to last for a full bioreactor cycle.

Automatic Prosthetic Cooling Wearable

Picture
Picture
Picture
What?
  • ·Designed an automatic prosthetic cooling wearable to address the lack of thermoregulation in residual limbs, so lower limb amputees can maintain active lifestyles
How?
  • Built a proof-of-concept prototype (POC) with low cost off-the-shelf components
  • Programmed an on/off controller using Arduino (C/C++)
  • Designed a PCB on Autodesk EAGLE, manufactured it overseas, and soldered components onto it
Results
  • Produced a minimum viable prototype (MVP) with a compact, rechargeable Li-ion battery that lasts for 2 hours (the predetermined maximum length of a workout)
  • Optimized the design, decreasing size and weight by at least 50%

Automatic Data Acquisition System

Picture
Picture
What?
  • Built a test stand with an automated data acquisition system to benchmark new liquid filters
How?
  • Wired various sensors (pressure, turbidity, load cell) to a microcontroller
  • Fabricated a circuit enclosure and fixture
  • Programed a user interface and data acquisition file
Results
  • The test system was able to be used to benchmark up to 4 different filters by collecting throughput capacity, pressure, and turbidity data
