Picture
What?
  • ·Designed an automatic prosthetic cooling wearable to address the lack of thermoregulation in residual limbs, so lower limb amputees can maintain active lifestyles
How?
  • Built a proof-of-concept prototype (POC) with a breadboard and other low cost, off the shelf components
  • Programmed an on/off controller using Arduino (C/C++)

Results
  • Designed a PCB on Autodesk EAGLE, manufactured it overseas, and soldered components onto it
  • Produced a prototype with a rechargeable Li-ion battery that lasts for 2 hours (the maximum length of a workout)

Data Acquisition System for Feasibility Testing

Picture
Picture
What?
  • Built a test stand with an automated data acquisition system to benchmark new liquid filters
How?
  • Wired various sensors (pressure, turbidity, load cell) to a microcontroller
  • Fabricated a circuit enclosure and fixture
  • Programed a user interface and calculated voltage and current conversions
Results
  • The test system was used to benchmark our filter against competitor filter by collecting throughput capacity, turbidity, and pressure data

Heater Jacket Portfolio

Picture
Picture
What?
  • Developed a portfolio of 3 heater jackets to prevent condensation in vent filters
How?
  • Collaborated with applications, manufacturing, stakeholders, and vendors to determined requirements and design heater jackets.
  • Performed validation testing
Results
  • Produced heater jackets that extend the life of vent filters, allowing them to last for a full bioreactor cycle
  • Released 3 heater jacket portfolio to customers

Filter Capsule

Picture
Picture
Picture
What?
  • Designed (on SolidWorks) and fabricated a filter capsule
How?
  • Iterated through prototypes on an SLA 3D printer due its watertight capability
  • Pressure and leak tested prototypes
  • Considered design for manufacturing (DFM)
Results
  • Produced a watertight capsule that was used to test filter membranes up to a pressure of 20 PSI (before failure of the tubing at the hose barb)

Phone Belt Holsters

Picture
Picture
Picture
What?
  • Designed belt holsters for phones on Solidworks
How?
  • Printed dozens of prototypes on an FDM 3D printer to optimize fit
Results
  • Printed in PETG for its impact strength and heat resistance
  • Adjusted layer height and wall loops to increase strength
  • Produced 3 different snap-fit belt holsters for phones of varying sizes
